Poundbury Garden Centre is proud to be supporting a local charity in creating a welcoming and calming space for victims of abuse, and the professionals who support them, with the provision of high-quality houseplants for their new training centre and board room.
STARS Dorset is a pan-Dorset charity that offers free, confidential support to anyone, of any age or gender, who has a residential Dorset postcode and has experienced any form of sexual abuse in their lives. STARS has recently moved into Hammick House in Bridport Road, Poundbury, to enable it to grow its support work, and establish a training subsidiary called INTERSTELLAR, offering support to professionals working with victims of abuse.
The new space Hammick House includes a large training room for up to 48 attendees, and a board room for up to 12. These are available for hire, and the income from them supports the work of the charity.
Katie from Poundbury Garden Centre was pleased to present the plants to Helen Stevens, CEO of STARS. Katie said: – ’The Gardens Group are strong supporters of the communities we serve, and we’re delighted to be able to provide these plants, in association with our suppliers Profit Plant, to such a worthy cause. The new facilities at Hammick House are a real asset in Dorchester, and the work of STARS so important.’
Helen Stevens added: – ‘We’re so grateful for these plants which will help to make our space feel so much more welcoming to those we support as well as for the wider community. Huge thanks!’
